Not Another Inaugural Live Blog...Utopia of the Seas sailing 7/19/2024

Genie chat:  Utopia has 4 Genies onboard right now (Berty, Carlos, Alexa, ????). One will be leaving soon for vacation and supposedly not replaced.  These short sailings are rough on them because of the administrative work with 2x as many Star Class passengers a week.

@AshleyDillo is this Alexa from Harmony?

I'm assuming Icon and Utopia has dancing drums explosion or some other new version. I feel like the new ships will have the more popular slots.

I was wondering about the casino but if @Sweety did okay, I might do Utopia.

I'm not a Dancing Drums conisseur but this one looked like it was playing three games at once. There was so much going on and I was trying to teach my mother how the goldfish game works (hint: you hit the spin button).

I know a Genie who refused Utopia for these reasons.  I wonder how they trick or otherwise coerce a Genie into accepting Utopia.

Berty found out we were doing a B2B and told us to request him in the survey   Makes it a lot easier on him I bet.

He said they rotate rooms...he has a solarium suite and the ultimate family suite this cruise.

How neurted are the Genies on Utopia? 

Can they do any Genie magic to get Railway reservations for example?  

Still reserving seats at shows?  

Any notable things they aren't doing on Utopia?

It seems they are losing some of their powers on other ships, just curious how they are on Utopia.

Our Sky class Genie's name is Michael, though. Some of you have met him

He's good. He offered to fetch me a glass with ice from the Suite Sun Deck when he served me a cold Coke Zero from the fridge.

I think they're holding back..my only Star Class connection on this ship said she had a railway reservation when we chatted in the boarding lounge.  She was also on the preview sailing, though.

I will keep sniffing around.  The UFS folks have no clue what to expect and they were impressed by how many doors they had in their suite, so they're not a good resource on what they're missing out on.

I get the impression that might be the case for these cruises. So much to do in so little time so there's no time for the little WOW moments, especially for new cruisers who want to experience everything the ship has to offer.

But I can only imagine trying to explain the new slots to your mom. I took a vintage to our newest casino and had a time explaining how to play some new machines .

My mom wants to do Utopia. I just spent 45min explaining the food truck and railroad wasn't the same thing or available on other Oasis class ships

I think it's Berty, Carlos, Alexa, and Ellen. 3 seasoned, 1 new-ish. I know quite a few who have steered clear of UT as well. But with AL still doing the shorties, and WN joining eventually, word on the Genie street is that they will all have to rotate at some point. Hence all the movement in the last 6-7 months in the Genie world.

There's also one in training maybe? He is wearing the Genie purple, khakis, and loafers but I don't recognize him..he was walking around with Berty.

Perhaps. There is someone in the solarium suite who has Ellen. So I know for sure she is the 4th official one.

Sadly no. The Pesky Parrot is really the only full new drink venue onboard.  Everything else is either the latest version or the same old same old.
