On the few cruises that I've received a military discount, I brought a copy of my DD 214 on the advice of our travel agent. She said we might not be asked, but it was better have it and not be asked than jump through the hoops if we were asked and I didn't have it.

Yes, but I have an apostrophe in my last name. I’ve found it easiest to see the loyalty ambassador onboard when there’s a problem. They’ve always merged the accounts with no issues. Airlines are more difficult: “Sir, your PreCheck isn’t showing because you failed to enter your name exactly as it is on your passport” Me: “Your booking software doesn’t recognize special characters and there’s a special character in my last name” Airline: “Yes sir, however your name must match exactly” -

Cruise Day Arrival Dilemma: Seeking Advice
teddy replied to TheNewishCruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
As someone who had a connecting flight in Lisbon cancelled last year when flying to Venice for a cruise, I can tell you there is no better feeling than knowing you have a three day cushion before embarkation day. We had to stay the night in Lisbon, and because we left the US three days early, we were able to enjoy the evening in a new city. -
Yea…in hindsight, I realize I answered a question that wasn’t asked…. I was thinking about choosing basic seats for free instead of the actual subject matter. After a long day at work, my brain doesn’t always process things efficiently

We’re flying British Airways to/from London this coming October. We booked the flights ourselves, flying in premium economy. Since we have no status, we had to pay to choose the seat locations we wanted….otherwise we would have had to wait until check in opened 24 hours before departure. I do realize there is a difference between booking our own flights and going through the cruise line, however I can’t imagine BA changing their seating policy just for Air2Sea, unless maybe you can pick from the seats allocated to A2S. We’ve flown on TAP Air and Lufthansa through A2S, and for both airlines, we had to pay in full before we were able to choose seats.

Rome (FCO)/Civitavecchia - Looking for people's experiences.
teddy replied to teddy's topic in Other travel
Thank you! We’ve booked a hotel for two nights before the cruise in Civitavecchia. If you have the contact information, we are interested. Thanks again. -
This cruise was in September 2021, during the restart, sailing from Nassau. Royal Ups were being handed out like candy on Halloween. There were also around 450 guests on Adventure the cruise.

We did, then we Royal Upped to a Junior Suite

The Next Cruise nrd of $100 pp is great, but as we’ve come to understand, any payment toward the cruise or moving of the cruise can screw things up. For example, We booked a 9-night in Sept 2025 with a future cruise certificate and $100 pp nrd. The initial invoice said we’d forfeit whatever the normal deposit was (I forget if it was $250 pp or more) if we canceled. Once we transferred the booking to our travel agent, she worked her magic and the new invoice just says we’ll forfeit the deposit we paid with no mention of dollar amount. We’ve become wary of making any changes once booked, although our travel agent has always been able to come through for us. I would personally put the money in a savings account and make the payoff in a lump sum just before it’s due

So I’m not really sure what your goal is here.

We stay near the port in New Jersey, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale as well. Being afraid of a commute has nothing to do with it. Rolling out of bed, having a lazy breakfast, and moseying on to the ship is our goal whether we’re in our own country or not.

^^^^This is us^^^^ We're staying two nights in London and one in Southampton. This will be our first time in the UK and we want to be close to the port when we wake up on embarkation morning. (Did I use "the UK" correctly or should I have said "England"?)

We’re booked at the Moxy in October. The primary reason we chose it was because we have Marriott Bonvoy points.
